Subject: Sweet, Glorious Rain!
Oh I am sohappy...rain at last. Though it is not a deluge, it is a start so I am officially taking the day off to celebrate! When it started today I was like a little girl and ran out and played in the rain. On my street, several joggers were doing the same thing: none of us ran for cover; rather, we all luxuriated in this aspect of nature that up until recently many of us have taken for granted.

YEA! Me too. I won't have to water the plants today with the garden hose. Drought is scary. Lou

I think that is one of the big drawbacks in living in a flat...it seperates you from the cycle of Nature. I was at a friend's house when the peaches were declared ready for picking:). But there is not connection in a flat with Nature's rythmn (yes I know..the bad as well as the good)

Bardic,Do you have a balcony or anything to garden on? I live faaar away from the ground, but I do feel fairly in touch with nature. I even ran outside in the rain! The dog stood in the door and looked at me like I was nuts. I couldn't coax him out.

the only thing I have is a fire escape..where I sit and play guitar weather permitting. Hopefully that may change soon though (my living arrangements, not the weather)

Yea! I have been waiting on the October article.I enjoyed it. I always do.I really don't like the plants, gardens, flowers, etc. all getting ready to shut down. The shorter days and more darkness are a little depressing, too. I could live where it is warm all the time.Lou :-)

Subject: TSOer has Astro column
Our very own Dave Walters is now writing a daily forecast for Linda Goodman's website. Most of you are probably aware of the impact Linda had on introducing astrology to the masses. What many of you may not know is that she died about a year ago. Still her memory and work lives on via her website. To visit, just click here:Linda Goodman's WebsiteWhoosh! Hope I did that correctly! I like David's forecasts despite the fact that I generally pooh-pooh Sun Sign Astrology because he sites specific aspects and all.

Subject: Four month review
Hi everyone!

I looked at the calendar yesterday and couldn't believe that four months had flown (or crawled, depending on the day)by since Larry and I created this incarnation of CP.

By way of historical information, this place first began as a column in the local Cincy OH spiritual journal called 'silent messages'. It then became an alternative to the religious boards on the freenet TriStateOnline. When the freenet folded we embarked on this venue. And, as I mentioned in an earlier post, CP is yet again undergoing another rebirth--this time as celestialperspectives.com.

Whoosh! What a step! Unknown territory, in many ways. Foremost for me personally I guess is that during the last few months I have been readjusting myself from what I now call "the TSO sysop/admin/devotee" syndrome, albeit painfully. For years many of us devoted so much time to keeping the TSO community alive via this unique mode of interacting. Now that is gone and in this space I have done my best but I have a sense that I should move in a new direction, particularly because of the expense involved. Now, all of you who know me are aware that this is a difficult step for me to take! I am such an anomaly in this current world: rather than being competitive, I am cooperative. Rather than corporate, I am communal in my life orientation. What is that old saw? Like a round peg in a square hole? Whatever. Back to the subject at hand--I need input. I know that I need to find a balance in the next incarnation of CP. To keep this forum alive in the way that we are all used to, I need to add a commercial aspect to it. Also, I have a need to expand this special forum to include areas that have not been included before.

Regarding the money thing, I am not asking for support in terms of dollars here but rather suggestions. What I have come up with so far is a place to advertise my consultation services (something I have never done before). Also, I was wondering whether there might be an interest in an online private chat room consultation forum, wherein appts. would be made for a nominal prepaid fee. Last night I visited the AOL psychic forum and the lines were so long that suddenly I ended up doing work for people! That was wild. Again, input along these lines would be most appreciated because I bascially have no clue as to how to pull it off.

In addition, I want to expand the scope of this forum from local to global while retaining the personal sense of connection we all felt on TSO. Today I reviewed the "hits" we have had here since June 19.

All in all, for a humble local homesite these statistics are pretty awesome. Thing is, to keep this place alive we need to continue to evolve. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

It's great! There's so much more to it than just the exchange of messages - and I'm not putting such a thing down - but you've done so much more. And I love the graphic of the 'page down' key being depressed!

I agree. As for generating revenue, there are a number of ways of doing it,depending on the ISP hosting it.

Thank you lvarney and bardic for your comments. I too think the page down thingamajig is cool--very sexy in a pc-cyber kinda way (big wink indeed). Thanks to Larry Ward for that. And bardic, what exactly do you mean by saying it depends on the ISP as far as revenue goes? Truth be told, all I really aim to do right now is make ends meet. As it is, I am spending about $59 a month to keep this up (which includes the new domain which will be unveiled once it is refined) so I have gotten to the point where I can't justify that kind of outlay otherwise. Consequently, I look forward to further insights and comments.

Subject: Angel Readings
My brother Jon wrote in and asked if any of us knew about Angel Readings. I know about Angel Cards, but as far as Angel Readings go, that could be anything I guess since Angel jazz abounds these days. Anyone have a clue?

Subject: Misc.
Kristina, I've never heard of Angel Readings, but they sound interesting. Please let us know if you hear more. My guardian angel has certainly pulled me out of some tight situations. I'd be interested in hearing more. The new board sounds great. I'll be there.Bardic, I'm interested in what you have to say about generating revenue and the ISP. Several critical care nurses have E-mailed me to inquire about advertising their products on my pages. A webmaster of a large nursing web site E-mailed me that he is now paying for a link to his site, and that he's been sucessful enough on his site that he has cut back to two or three days per week (from five) at his "day" nursing job. I'm at a crossroads, and would appreciate any information. From what I've gleaned from OneNet's web site, I would have to pay an extra $25 per month for commercial information on my site, but I haven't checked with any one there.

Subject: Interesting PBS programs
On Tuesday night at 8 PM, a show about the "millenium Bug" in all of it's aspects will be aired. On Wednesday, the work of Jane Goodall will be shown. I look forward to bith of these programs, particularly the one on Tuesday. The jist of the previews goes something like this: "are you prepared to survive or just planning to party like you never have before?" This millenium stuff holds real facsination for me because all of us are affected emotionally and (pardon me) psychically whether we like it or not.

Subject: revenue
Many site hosts are picky about what you are or are not allowed to do in order to generate revenue. Also, many hosts, for their own securiy,do not allow cgi or perl scripts, a needed thing if you are going to accept credit cards. Which means you need ot either be inventive or take the plunge and use a website that charges, rather than one of the many free ones out there. And many people first starting out do not have thecapital, small thought it actually is.Two of the easiest ways to generate revenue are A>advertisements and B>agent status. What do I mean by the latter? As an example Amazon,CDNow and I believe Barnes &Noble all have a link service. IF you link your site to them and people buy stuff going through your portal, you get a commision

Anyone here? Personally, I have continued to be a crazy lady with all the demands of mundane life. Will it ever end? And if it did, would I be happy? I think not. So tonight I am going to catch up here a bit with random thoughts I have been contemplating.

Subject: Coma equals Divinity?
In fall of 1996 I was asked to review a book by my friend Wayne Dyer called "A Promise is a Promise", which was about a woman who had been in a coma for 25 years. Her mother, who had a Ph.D. in Psychology, dropped everything to care for her daughter. As everyone might imagine, her resources soon grew slim. A devout Roman Catholic, this mother surrounded her daughter's bed at home with pictures of the Holy Mother, which began to seep oil in addition to other manifestations.

Wayne was fully captured by this circumstance and was even on Oprah with this mother and daughter. I, however, to this day have strong qualms about the assumption that this comatose woman has the power to heal and save souls. I'll tell ya, that was the hardest book review I ever had to write.

In recent years, I have noticed news clips from time to time about similar situations. Recently, a night-time drama series had an episode about it and no conclusion was reached because apparently this is an ultra-sensitive issue. Anyone have any thoughts?

Dig this, gang: a University in Utah is conducting a cyber experiment to determine whether there is an afterlife. You sign up (I will provide the URL) and provide a code word that only people close to you would recognize. The catch here is that you have to die in order for this experiment to work. Oh well. Subject: Want to live long? Forget Sleep
After a 20 year-long study, researchers at Harvard surprisingly found that the less you sleep, the longer you are likely to live. People who slept around 4-5 hours in a 24 hour period, no matter what their lifestyle, were found to live the longest. Isn't that wild? For once, I was happy to hear the results of a research project--they usually bum me out since I seem to never be doing anything right. In this case, my parents would testify that since the day of my birth I have been insomniacal.

Subject: Full Fat Diet
In the last several months, a new diet has appeared on the scene that has captured national attention in the context of the decade's diet "no fat, no salt" mantra: yet again from Harvard, an old diet guru has had his heart patients on a fat and meat laden diet and claims that none of them had to have bypass surgery. Please note: his research is admittedly "anecdotal".

Subject: Alistir Crowley
I don't know if I have this persons name right, but I shouldhave written it down. He was quite an interesting character,an outdoorsman who climbed K2, the world's 2nd tallestmountain long before anyone conquered Everest. He belonged to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, along with writerssuch as Somerset Maughn and William Yeats. They studiedalchemy, astrology, astronomy, religions, languages, especially Hebrew and Tarot among many subjects. They believed that what they called the first aeon of manwasinfluenced by matriarchy, worship of Mother Earth andlunar goddesses, this was followed by the second aeonbrought in by Christianity and was a patriarchy, worshipof father figures. God, Christ. The 3rd aeon is now, theaeon of children, people and nations placing extremeimportance of what they called children's games, sportsof any kind, and the babyish enthuseasms and rages it excites, whole nations disturbed by disputes between"boys." Most of what they did was quite secret until a bookwas recently published called the age of the Golden Dawn.Sounds rather interesting to me.
